Confirmation

Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. While baptism is the sacrament of rebirth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age. Through this sacrament, we confirm the presence of the baptismal gifts we have already received; we are sealed with the undeserved and unearned gift of the Holy Spirit.

Confirmation Sponsor

It is an honor and privilege to be chosen as a Confirmation Sponsor. The sponsor will be a witness to the confirmation candidate’s initiation into full Christian life.

Requirements for a Confirmation Sponsor:

• The sponsor must be a Catholic who has celebrated the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation.
• The Sponsor must be 16 years of age or older
• The Sponsor must be selected and have intention of the role.
• The Sponsor must regularly participate in Sunday Mass and regularly receive Holy Communion.
• If married, the Sponsor’s marriage must be in full communion with the Catholic Church.
• The Sponsor may not be the parent of the Candidate.
